LCC Responce to Park Lane Junction Issues

Regarding School Crossing Patrols (SCPs). The SCP that was at this site retired in July 2014 and prior to this happening the decision was made to withdraw SCP sites located on light controlled crossings when they become vacant. Leicestershire County Council's SCP Service follows guidelines produced by Road Safety GB for managing the service and also criteria for assessing SCP sites. The national guidelines outline that it is not necessary for SCPs to work on light.. Read More »

Royal British Legion Remembrance Day

This year saw a well-attended Remembrance Day parade on Sunday 12 November enjoying the bright, but chilly winter sun.

The British Legion and Parish Council had worked with The Leicestershire & Rutland 4 x 4 Emergency Responders and Marks and Spencers volunteers to cover the road closures and parade. Village Gritting

Village Gritting

During spells of bad weather you will see Martyn and Keiren (Parish Council Staff) around the village hand gritting pavements.

The Parish Council has signed up the the Snow Warden Scheme which gives us specific responsibilities to hand grit certain areas of the village. Click on the photo to see full details. Castle Donington Scouts

Castle Donington Scouts have been earning an environmental badge and have been litter picking, in the dark, at Spital Park. On the eve of the Prevent Training, attendees went out for some fresh air to be see lights shining around the field. On further investigation it was found to be the local Scouts out litter picking! Castle Donington Community Library

Castle Donington Community Library

The volunteers of the Community Library are working to create a facility that will encourage the greater use of the services by all areas of the community.

Apart from the usual opening times in the library building, it takes books out to the community to the local Friday Group and Tenants Residents Association at Wakefield Court and the Biggin.
