Download Festival 2019 - Public Information

Download Festival 2019 will take place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 June on the south fields at the Donington Race Circuit, Castle Donington.

Musical performance times and campsite

The three-day open-air concert will take place from 1pm to 11pm on Friday 14 to Sunday 16 June.

Camping facilities for festival-goers are available from mid-day on Wednesday 12 June to mid-day on Monday 17 June.

Both the open-air musical performances and the campsite are subject to a licence issued by North West Leicestershire District Council and numerous controls have been imposed.

We will be monitoring during the event to ensure licence conditions are complied with.

Noise control

A sound propagation test will take place on Thursday 13 June between 3pm and 6.30pm, which our officers will attend.

We will monitor noise levels throughout the event as in previous years, with fixed monitoring equipment located in nearby villages. Roaming noise levels will also be monitored by an officer with a hand held device.

If any residents believe the noise levels are unacceptable, please contact us on 01530 454789.

Resident concerns will be logged and communicated to the event organiser during the event so that they can take any steps to minimise disturbance.

Traffic information

Peak times

The event organisers have a comprehensive traffic management plan, but disruption to the road network is inevitable at certain times due to the sheer number of people attending the event.

The peak times for arrivals are expected to be 7am to 2pm on Wednesday 12 June and 8am to 3pm on Friday 14 June.

The highest volume of traffic coming away from the festival will be:

  • Between 10pm and 1am on Saturday 15 / Sunday 16 June and Sunday 16 / Monday 17 June
  • 9am to 1pm on Monday 17 June.

Routes to avoid

At peak times on Wednesday and Friday we would advise avoiding the contraflow area between J24 and J23A of the M1 in both directions and the A453 westbound.

During the peak exit time on Monday 17 June we would advise avoiding the area around J23A of the M1 where possible.

Temporary diversions

Temporary speed limits and clearways / no waiting are in operation from Wednesday 12 to Monday 17 June.

Details can be found on the event organiser website.

Our civil enforcement staff will patrol the area to ensure that the parking and no waiting restrictions are adhered to.
