New bus route to Ashby, Swadlincote and Burton on Trent
A bus route from East Midlands Airport will create a direct link to new areas of the East Midlands.
At present, Skylink and Airlink services through EMA and run direct to and from Leicester, Nottingham and Derby, connecting the airport to towns and villages including Loughborough, Coalville, Shepshed, Castle Donington, Kegworth, Long Eaton and Clifton.
Now Ashby, Swadlincote and Burton on Trent are set to be joined up to the airport by the new Airline 9 route being operated by Midland Classic.
The new service will launch on Monday, reports DerbyshireLive, and will be priced from £5.50.
It will see the existing number nine service renamed and extended to include Lount and Melbourne and the main terminal of East Midlands Airport.
The service will run hourly, leaving Burton between 4.20am until 9.10pm Monday to Saturday, with the commute taking just less than an hour to the airport.
Reduced services will be seen on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Airline 9 will run early to late seven days a week helping to support the night-time economy in Burton, Swadlincote and Ashby - it's much less fuss to take the bus.
