Castle Donington Community Hub - Covid-19 Vaccination Centre
The Community Hub – Castle Donington - to be operated by Evans Pharmacy with the help of the Parish Council and the Volunteer CentreSome of you may have noticed some activity both at the pharmacy and at the Community Hub with deliveries of various items like screens and fridges. We had been asked to put together a bid for a vaccination centre to operate from the Community Hub and deliver 400 vaccines per week.We successfully did that last week, and have been setting up all week only to fall foul of the potential vaccine shortages in April. The vaccination centre will still operate, probably 2-3 days per week, delivering approximately 200 vaccines per day. Provisionally this will include a weekday, and a weekend day, including some evening appointments. The vaccination centre will provide a local alternative for those not wishing to travel outside the immediate area to be vaccinated. We will be able to provide first doses for those eligible people invited to book by the NHS, and there may be the opportunity to provide second doses for those who have already received their first vaccination elsewhere.Booking will be via the National Booking System used to book vaccinations at the Derby Arena. Bookings will not open until we receive stock.Initially due to storage restrictions we will only be offering the AstraZeneca vaccine, but this may change as the storage requirements for vaccines evolve, and new vaccines are authorised for use.The Parish Council and Volunteer Centre have been working alongside us to ensure that we have the facility and volunteers to manage car parking and queues.Start date to be confirmed when there is clarity over vaccine supplies.A further FB post will advise this, in the meantime if you are eligible, please ensure you take the first opportunity to get vaccinated where ever it is!
